Chräbeli, Anise cookies


This is another traditional Christmas cookie we love.

Traditional Swiss Chraebeli christmas cookies

4 eggs, beaten

2 3/4 cup powder sugar

1pinch of salt

1 1/2 tablespoons anise seeds

4 cups or more flour

Mix all the ingredients together to make a nice dough.

On a floured surface roll a hand full into finger thick roll and then cut it into 1 1/2 inch pieces. Make three half cuts into each piece and bend it slightly (see the picture).

Put the cookies on a greased baking sheet and let the cookies dry overnight. 

Preheat oven to 300 F and then bake the cookies for 20-25 Minutes on the bottom part of your oven.
